March is Food Share Month in Minnesota.  During this time of significant economic distress, many area families are using local food shelves more than ever before.  Resources are being stretched dangerously thin.  In an effort to raise local awareness around issues of hunger and poverty as well as to increase both financial and food item contributions to the local food shelves, United Way of Central Minnesota, in partnership with several area sponsors, is hosting a major food and funds drive called Feed Our Families.  The challenge will be to raise 100,000 pounds of food/funds to be distributed to Catholic Charities and Salvation Army.  Contributions of money can be leveraged to purchase more food than a donation of food itself.
